Dozens of events, speaker sessions, and business matchmaking in Europe and beyond - 2025 was an extremely successful and fruitful year, and we want to use this moment to look back and recap CitCom’s remarkable achievements, groundbreaking collaborations, and transformative impact for the smart cities and communities! This year, CitCom.ai increased its strategic positioning, emphasised its role in shaping the future of smart cities, scaled its ecosystem, and developed data infrastructure by significantly contributing to key events of the year - SCEWC 2025, xTEF event in Milan, Data Spaces Symposium 2025, Connecting Sustainable Regions, Valencia Digital Summit, and many others.

Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2025 – Barcelona

From November 4–6, CitCom.ai participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC 2025) in Barcelona, the premier event gathering global innovators to shape digital futures for smart cities and territories. This presence reinforced CitCom.ai’s mission, helping cities move from pilot AI projects toward scalable, trustworthy deployments.

During the three days of the conference, CitCom.ai hosted a Meet and Greet session at the Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC) booth, bringing together policymakers, city leaders, and AI innovators. The project team led a workshop titled “Increasing the uptake of AI for Smarter Cities: From Pilots to Impact at Scale” on the Impact Tech Stage. Thought leaders from across Europe, including CitCom.ai partners, discussed governance, validation, and scaling of AI in live urban environments.

CitCom.ai also showcased its Local Digital Twin (LDT) Toolbox in the Spanish Pavilion, a concrete example of data sharing and intermunicipal cooperation powered by the CitiVERSE European Digital Infrastructure Consortium.

Data Spaces Symposium 2025 – Warsaw

In March 2025, CitCom.ai was featured at the Data Spaces Symposium, a major data spaces event of the year. FIWARE Foundation booth proudly hosted Citcom.ai, presenting a video overview of the project’s mission, testbed services, and its impact, and engaging European experts in the project community and latest activities. CitCom.ai’s experts took part in a panel titled “How does the ecosystem nurture itself?” during the “Smart Cities & Communities: Societal Impact of Data Spaces” session and deep dived into how data spaces can support cities, improve public services, and share infrastructure—key priorities for CitCom.ai’s vision of data-driven, interoperable smart communities.

xTEF Full-Scale Operation Event – Milan

Hosted by the Politecnico di Milano (Aula De Carli) and MADE Competence Centre, xTEF Milano became a central hub to demonstrate TEFs’ value as validation platforms and prove their role in Europe’s AI and robotics scaling strategy.

The major “half-project” milestone for the four European TEFs (including agrifoodTEF, AI-Matters, TEF-Health, and CitCom.ai) showcased how AI and robotics are being validated in real-world contexts. The event included a full-day conference, with sessions on TEFs in the wider EU AI strategy, the role of TEFs in investment and innovation, and how testing infrastructures link with AI Factories, Data Spaces, and European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs).  A public exhibition presented live TEF use cases and success stories, giving SMEs and startups a chance to see how CitCom.ai and its fellow TEFs can support real-world AI/robotics deployments.

Valencia Digital Summit – Valencia

On October 23, CitCom.ai took the stage at the Valencia Digital Summit (VDS+) with a dedicated panel session exploring how European regions can accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation responsibly. The panel brought together leaders from industry, policy, and research, underlining the role of TEFs in scaling trustworthy AI, fostering innovation ecosystems, and supporting startups and SMEs with access to testbeds and real-life city environments.

Connecting Sustainable Regions – Copenhagen

Partnered with WE BUILD DENMARK (WBDK) and Gate21 CitCom.ai co-organised Connecting Sustainable Regions in Copenhagen, on December 3, 2025. The conference gathered municipalities, innovators, researchers, and regional authorities from Denmark and Sweden to explore Europe’s sustainability transition through AI-driven smart infrastructure, digital twins, circular economy systems, and scalable regional collaboration. The event demonstrated how cross-border initiatives and shared digital tools are accelerating climate solutions and unlocking sustainable growth across European regions.
