On April 3rd, 2025, the University Gustave Eiffel hosted the second physical workshop of the Central Supernode at its Champs-sur-Marne campus near Paris, bringing together 20 technical and business experts from across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. The event featured presentations from key French partners and a tour of Sense-City, a groundbreaking mini-city research facility, and led to the development of three advanced proposals aimed at boosting AI-driven solutions for smarter, more sustainable cities.
The second physical workshop of Central Supernode (which focuses on mobility and logistics in cities and communities in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France) was hosted by the University Gustave Eiffel, at Champs-Sur-Marne, near Paris on April 3rd, 2025 and gather 20 technical and business experts from the different TEF sites.
The event featured the presentation of French node partners (LNE, UTAC, SystemX and UGE) with a tour of Sense-City, a climatic chamber covering a whole mini-city, equipped with multiple sensors to study urban and environmental challenges and monitor the city of tomorrow.
The workshop itself brainstormed on concrete proposals for X-TEFS collaboration. We started with each node pitching their ideas prepared for the workshop. Then nodes mixed into 3 groups. In a first session, each group elaborated and refined a specific proposal. A second session was devoted to developing the proposals into complete ID cards of experiments presenting the targeted service, the relevant sites, the ecosystem and technical assets and challenges. The day resulted in 3 advanced proposals on:
- Recommendation for optimization of road infrastructure
- Object detection in different environment conditions
- Multipurpose transfer learning (for location of charging station, traffic prediction) for cross-use and scaling among cities
The rich agenda and fruitful exchanges kept participants much involved all day. The Central Supernode will actively benefit for all these outputs to foster the adoption of concrete AI solutions for tomorrow’s smart cities and communities.
