Wild Technologies Unleashed in Aarhus

This August, Aarhus Municipality’s technology festival, Wild Technologies’ will take place at Main Library Dokk1 in Aarhus, Denmark. The festival offers three days of both exhibitions of new technologies and talks on the opportunities and dilemmas of the technological transition.

Technological development is moving at a rapid pace – and Aarhus is no exception. With the festival ‘Wild Technologies’, the municipality highlights some of the trends that are shaping both the public sector and society.

“This year we are focusing on a range of themes – robots among us, open source, AI in society, health technology, and digital sovereignty. There will be concrete demonstrations of various technologies as well as debates exploring some of the dilemmas around, for example, the use of AI,” says Bo Fristed, Head of Innovation, Technology and Creativity (ITK) in the Mayor’s Department at Aarhus Municipality, which is organizing the festival.

Expo at Dokk1

Visitors will also be able to explore a large exhibition – or expo – of various technologies. The expo will spread across Dokk1’s open areas and consist of stands, themed tours, and hands-on activities.

“This is not a traditional trade fair. Instead, we invite exhibitors to show technology in action where visitors can try things out, explore, and engage in dialogue. The exhibition is a central part of the entire festival and will be attended by professionals, school pupils, citizens, and families,” says Bo Fristed.

CitCom.ai is present in Aarhus

ITK at Aarhus Municipality manages Aarhus’ engagement with CitCom.ai. Although the festival covers topics that in some ways extend beyond CitCom.ai’s core focus, it nonetheless supports the broader dissemination of CitCom.ai in Denmark.

“In Aarhus, we have ambitious goals for advancing the use of robots and responsible AI in the public sector. That is why we are part of CitCom.ai, where we work with various test facilities that allow companies to test and develop their solutions in collaboration with the municipality. Some of these initiatives are among the things we will be discussing and presenting at the festival,” says Bo Fristed.
